This topic guide provides an introduction to literature on security sector reform (SSR) in Latin America and the Caribbean. It highlights key regional texts and resources that cut across a number of security sectors and countries. Because of the size of the region, several broadly representative country case studies from sub-regions have been selected to highlight particular issues of interest. Whilst not exhaustive, this guide gives an indication of the growing literature available on SSR in the region. Research on SSR, particularly region-wide comparisons, is not abundant and though English-language papers are used wherever possible, if a key document is only available in Spanish then it is included below, with a brief summary in English.
Clicking on the link in the document title will take the reader to a more extensive summary in the GFN-SSR Document Library, which includes a direct link to the original relevant document.

GFN-SSR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DCAF. This is supported by an annual workplan outlining particular activities for cooperation and areas for information exchange.
GFN-SSR works closely with our sister project, the GSDRC, which specialises in information and resources on specific governance and social development issues.
